Do you transfer all of these cassettes and lps yourself or are they all sourced from somewhere else? If you do transfer them yourself, I have several cassettes (mainly the first two volumes of ajoy chakrabarty live in pakistan) but don't have the equipment to make a decent digital transfer. Where are you? I might considering sending them to you if you'd like to put them on your blog and would guarantee to return them. They're powerful recordings and I know they're not available in digital format, even to purchase. Do you have an email I could write you at?

Hi Tawfiq,

This may be a long shot, but I was wondering if you could help me identify the music at the start of this video;

It sounds like Turkish Qawali perhaps?

Thanks

Dear Jesse,
I transfer them myself. I have these two cassettes as copies from the internet, I think from this website:
http://firozjuma.com/search/Ajoy+Chakrabarty
I can't find there the Vol. II anymore.
The volumes 3 to 5 are published for commercial downloads on many platforms like Amazon etc.
I'm in Germany. Please send your email for further communication
Thanks
Tawfiq

I have no idea what that might be. One would need to have a longer excerpt. But there is no such thing as Turkish Qawwali, but they have a lot of much calmer Sufi music. I remember that I played to a Turksih friend many years ago Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and he disliked it strongly as much too nervous music.
